Nylon (polyamide) is commonly found in applications involving high service temperature, low coefficient of friction, chemical resistance, abrasion or wear, and toughness. Its natural color is white or ivory and comes in several variations ranging from 6, 6/6, 11, 12, filled (glass or moly), alloys and more. Nylon tends to absorb water from the environment over time, which affects its dimensional stability.
Most common applications include:
• Gears, cams, bearings, guides and housings
• Industrial, conveyor and spiral wrap industries
• Some grades are FDA approved and can be used in food contact applications
