Overcoating

We have decades of experience overcoating everything including wire, cable, rope, cord, fabric webbing, steel rod and steel tubing, with a wide variety of thermoplastics. Most overcoating is done with an even wall around the core, but a profile can also be extruded around it. Request a quote for your next project.

There are several reasons why someone might want to overcoat a part with thermoplastic material:

⦁ Protection: Thermoplastic coatings provide an additional layer of protection to the underlying part or component. It can shield the part from environmental factors like moisture, chemicals, abrasion, and UV radiation, which can cause damage or degradation over time.

⦁ Corrosion resistance: By applying a thermoplastic coating, the part can become more resistant to corrosion, making it suitable for use in harsh or corrosive environments. This is particularly beneficial for metal components that may be exposed to corrosive substances or outdoor elements.

⦁ Wear resistance: Thermoplastic coatings can enhance the wear resistance of the part, extending its lifespan and reducing the need for frequent replacements. This is especially valuable for parts subjected to friction, impact, or repetitive use.

⦁ Improved aesthetics: Coating a part with thermoplastic can improve its appearance, giving it a smooth and polished finish. This can be essential for components used in consumer products or industries where aesthetics matter.

⦁ Noise reduction: Some thermoplastic coatings have noise-dampening properties, which can help reduce noise generated during the operation of the coated part. This is particularly useful in machinery or equipment where noise reduction is desired.

⦁ Electrical insulation: Thermoplastic coatings with insulating properties can be applied to parts to prevent electrical conductivity, ensuring safety in electrical applications and protecting against short circuits.

⦁ Chemical compatibility: Depending on the chosen thermoplastic material, the coating can provide chemical resistance, making the part suitable for applications involving exposure to specific chemicals or solvents.

⦁ Easy application: Thermoplastic coatings are often easy to apply, either through dipping, spraying, or other coating methods, allowing for quick and efficient production processes.

Overall, applying a thermoplastic overcoat to a part can offer a cost-effective and versatile solution to enhance the part’s performance, durability, and appearance, making it suitable for a wide range of applications across various industries.
